Tow Hitch w Tow Ball 3.5t suitable for Discovery 3 Discovery 4 Range Rover Sport

This is a new Recovery brand heavy duty tow hitch
Suits all Land Rover Discovery 3, all Discovery 4 and Range Rover Sport to 2013

Kit includes vehicle mounted hitch, tow ball mount, tow ball, shackles, pin, spacers and high tensile bolt/washer kit
Everything you need to install, and start towing with this heavy duty tow hitch is included in this kit

Recovery's new tow hitch replaces the genuine Discovery 3, Discovery 4 or Range Rover Sport towing attachment
If you own, or have had experience with this arrangement, you will know the problems associated with the original equipment such as:
* Unable to remove the spare wheel with the attachment fitted
* When coupled to a trailer the trailer often doesn't tow level with the vehicle
* Hangs too low - especially when offroad
* Difficult to remove

The new Recovery brand tow hitch has been designed and test to comply with Australian Design Rule ADR62/02
It has a tow capacity rating of 3500kg with max ball weight of 350kg
The tow ball mount is specifically designed for this Recovery hitch to achieve the 3500kg tow capacity rating
When fitted this hitch allows the spare wheel to be removed even when coupled to a trailer
Trailers can be towed at the correct height for improved handling
The tow ball mount can be easily removed when not towing or when offroad
Perfect accessory for anyone who tows a boat, caravan or trailer

Appears to be a great solution to the Range Rover towing concerns
I have fitted the tow hitch which was a complex installation because of the wiring and the torque requirements. I cut off the wires from the "white" socket and terminated them behind the bumper bar. My torque wrench only went to 160 ft.lbs and the bolts needed 250 ft.lbs. The bolts were then torqued up an extra 90 degrees after the 160, to get up to the 250. Now that it is installed, I am delighted with the result."

    Very good.

The product is very good. The installation instructions are very basic and should be improved. Better diagrams would help alot.

Appears to be a great solution

It is not the easiest device to install on a RR Sport. Removing the left hand (white) socket means cutting the wires and then terminating into a new strip. Then the instructions do not mention that you should use lock-tite when installing the 16mm bolts. Then the torque settings required are in excess of a "normal" torque wrench. But after all of these challenges were overcome, I believe that I now have a very good tow hitch installed. Not sure about having the shackles attached to the hitch itself and not solidly to the vehicle.
