Parts suitable for Patrol GU with the TD42, ZD30, RD28, TB45 or TB48, from engine to body

  • Engine and servicing: Gaskets, seals, drive belts, hoses, filters, harmonic balancers, pulleys and intercoolers, for anything from a routine service to a bigger job. A genuine expansion tank cap seals the top of the coolant reservoir, and it's a handy spare when the old cap is cracked, perished or gone missing.
  • Cooling and heating: Radiators, hoses, thermostats, fans and fan clutches, water pumps and heater hose kits that keep temperatures in check on a long tow. Coolant leaking from the heater box under the dash can come from the heater core itself or from the O-rings on its pipes, so check both.
  • Fuel system parts: Fuel filters, primer pumps, sender units, injector washers and spill rails for clean fuel and a fuel gauge that reads true. If the gauge sits on empty or wanders about, the main tank fuel sender is worth testing, since it's the part that tells the gauge how much is left.
  • Clutch and brakes: Pads, rotors, calipers, master cylinders, handbrake cables and shoes, clutch master and slave cylinders and extended brake hoses for confident stopping with a full load on. A hard pedal that needs a big push is one sign the brake booster could be failing.
  • Gearbox and transfer case: Gear lever boots and bushes, automatic transmission filter kits, a transfer case output seal and range switch, and gearbox mounts for shifts that stay smooth and positive. A worn mount lets the gearbox move around under load, so a new gearbox mount could be the fix for extra vibration or knocks through the driveline.
  • Tailshafts and diffs: Uni joints, diff bearing kits, pinion seals, diff gaskets, breathers and drive flanges that carry the drive from the transfer case out to each axle. A genuine magnetic drain plug suits the diffs and the transfer case, and its magnet holds onto fine metal from normal wear so it isn't left circulating in the oil.
  • Axle and steering parts: Wheel bearings, hubs, swivel parts, stub axles, CV joints, tie rod ends, drag links and steering dampers for steering that stays precise on the highway and off it. AVM heavy-duty freewheeling hubs come as a pair, for converting from the factory auto-locking hubs to manual hubs you lock by hand.
  • Suspension and bushes: Radius arm, trailing arm, panhard rod and sway bar bushes, shocks, sway bar links, leaf spring bushes and adjustable panhard rods for a ride that stays settled when it's loaded up. One genuine rear trailing arm bush suits either end of all four rear trailing arms, so the whole set comes from a single listing.
  • Body and interior: Door hinges, mirrors, window regulators, bonnet struts, washer pumps, recovery points and console parts to keep the body tight and the cabin tidy. Worn hinge pins let a front door drop, which can damage the lock and striker, and a genuine front door hinge kit puts two hinges in one pack.
  • Electrical and lighting: Tail lights, indicators, switches, alternators, starter motors, glow plugs, cruise control kits and power window switches for reliable starts, a healthy charge and lights that work. If the right front door won't lock or unlock with the central locking, the door lock actuator is one to check.

Additional Information

How to find the right part suitable for your specific Nissan Patrol Y61 GU

Engine
Start with the engine, because filters, belts, hoses and gaskets follow it. On the diesel side, parts suitable for Patrol GU with the TD42 fit the 4.2 litre six, which came naturally aspirated, turbocharged and turbo-intercooled, and parts suitable for Patrol GU with the TD42T or TD42Ti often differ from those for the non-turbo engine. Parts suitable for early Patrol GU with the RD28 fit the 2.8 litre turbo diesel six. On the petrol side, parts suitable for Patrol GU with the TB45 fit the 4.5 litre six, and parts suitable for Patrol GU with the TB48 fit the later 4.8 litre six.

Direct injection or common rail
Parts suitable for Patrol GU with the ZD30 fit the 3.0 litre four-cylinder turbo diesel, and they often differ between the earlier direct-injection engine and the common-rail engine fitted from 2007. Filters, belts, hose kits, gaskets and harmonic balancers are common examples, so check which one is under your bonnet.

Body type
These came as a Wagon, a Ute and a cab chassis. Rear suspension parts follow the springs: Wagons and some Utes run coil springs at the rear, while others run leaf springs. Handbrake cables, body mounts and rear wheel studs can also differ between the Wagon and the Ute, and some body mount kits suit the LWB Wagon only.

Brakes
Rear brake parts differ between Utes with drum rear brakes and vehicles with rear discs. Master cylinders, front hub assemblies and front brake hoses differ with and without ABS, and front brake pads and calipers suitable for Patrol GU with the TB48 differ from those for the other engines.

Driveline
Radiators differ between automatics and manuals, and automatic transmission filter kits follow the gearbox. Front hub parts depend on whether the vehicle has the factory auto-locking hubs or manual freewheeling hubs. Parts suitable for Patrol GU with the RD28 include a smaller rear uni joint, the same size as the front one.

Model updates
Lights, switches, trim and some suspension bushes changed with the series updates through the run. Listings name the series (Series 3, Series 4 and so on) or the build dates they cover, so match them to your vehicle's build date.
