Safe-T-Stop safety test reports
Real numbers on how your 4×4 brakes, steers and rides, not just an opinion. Our Safe-T-Stop plate tester measures your brakes, wheel alignment and suspension, and weighs your vehicle, then gives you a clear, date and time stamped printed report with photo proof. Ideal before you buy, after a suspension or GVM change, or simply for peace of mind.
An honest, measured report on how your vehicle really performs
A Safe-T-Stop safety test report gives you an accurate, easy to understand condition report on your brakes, wheel alignment and suspension. Your vehicle is driven onto the Safe-T-Stop plate tester and the machine measures how it actually behaves, so you get real data rather than a quick visual once-over.
You walk away with a printed report, complete with the readings, the date and time, and photo proof that the test was carried out on your vehicle. It’s the difference between “it feels fine” and knowing, with the numbers in front of you, exactly how your 4×4 stops, steers and rides.
This is part of our wider inspections and reports. It is not a pink slip or eSafety check, for your registration inspection see our eSafety inspection page.
Five checks, one clear report
The Safe-T-Stop tester runs your vehicle through a full safety diagnostic and prints the results. Here’s what it measures.
Brake performance
Detects dangerous side-to-side and front-to-rear brake imbalances, the kind that can cause a vehicle to pull or lose control under heavy braking.
Wheel alignment & drag
Checks drag and alignment on both the front and rear axles, so your tyres roll true, wear evenly and perform the way they should.
Suspension & shocks
Measures ride quality by testing the rebound and oscillation of the suspension, from firm to soft, and confirms your shock absorbers are doing their job.
Weighbridge
Integrated corner and axle weight scales, so you can see how your 4×4 sits, useful for loaded touring rigs and vehicles with a GVM upgrade.
Printed report
An accurate, easy to read printout of your vehicle’s performance, date and time stamped, with photo proof the test was done on your vehicle.
The Safe-T-Stop test, explained
Three tests and a weighbridge, all from the one machine, all captured in your report. Watch how each one works.
Balance, performance & stopping
Your vehicle is driven onto the plate tester, which measures the braking force at each wheel. It picks up dangerous side-to-side and front-to-rear imbalances that can make a vehicle pull or lose control in an emergency stop, long before you’d feel them on the road. The result tells you whether your 4×4 will pull up straight and in the shortest possible distance, and if something’s off, we can put it right on-site.
Drag on the front & rear axles
The tester checks the drag and alignment on both the front and rear axles. Misalignment scrubs your tyres, shortens their life and quietly costs you fuel through extra rolling resistance. By measuring the drag on each axle, the report shows whether your wheels are tracking true, so you get even wear and maximum tyre performance. Important on a heavier 4×4, and after any suspension, lift or steering work.
Rebound, oscillation & shocks
Ride quality is measured by testing the rebound and oscillation of the suspension, from firm to soft. This confirms your shock absorbers are actually controlling the vehicle rather than just holding it up, which matters for grip, braking and comfort, especially on a loaded touring setup. Worn shocks show up in the numbers here before they show up as a bouncy, unsettled ride or uneven tyre wear.
See how your 4×4 sits
The Safe-T-Stop also integrates corner and axle weight scales, so it doubles as a weighbridge. You can see how weight is distributed across your vehicle, genuinely useful on a loaded touring rig or one that’s had a GVM upgrade. Knowing your corner and axle weights helps you set a 4×4 up to sit and handle properly.
The benefits of a Safe-T-Stop check
It’s a small check that tells you a lot, and can save you money and trouble down the track.
Stop straight, stop short
Know your vehicle will pull up straight and in the shortest possible distance in an emergency, with balanced brakes across every wheel.
Longer tyre life
Correct alignment and even wear mean your tyres last longer, so you replace them less often and spend less over time.
Better fuel economy
Minimising drag from misalignment reduces rolling resistance, which helps your fuel consumption every time you drive.
Shocks you can trust
Confirm your suspension and shock absorbers are working properly, for better grip, braking and comfort loaded or unloaded.
Catch problems early
Spot brake, suspension or tyre issues before they become a breakdown or a bigger repair bill, especially before a big trip.
Proof in writing
A date and time stamped report with photos, ideal when buying or selling a vehicle, or keeping records for a fleet.

Good times to get a safety test report
A Safe-T-Stop report is quick and independent, which makes it handy in a few common situations.
Before you buy
Thinking of buying a used 4×4? A measured report on the brakes, alignment and suspension tells you what you’re really getting. Pairs perfectly with a pre-purchase inspection.
After suspension or GVM work
Fitted a lift, new shocks or a GVM upgrade? Confirm the alignment, ride and corner weights are right for the new setup.
Before a big trip
Heading bush or on a big lap? Know your brakes, shocks and alignment are up to it before you leave the black-top, not a long way from help.
Selling or fleet records
Selling a vehicle, or keeping a fleet on top of safety? A date and time stamped report with photos is independent proof you can hand over.
