Roo Systems CNC Machined Oil Catch Can

This is a new Roo Systems Oil Catch Can

Suitable for high compression, turbo/supercharged or older engines which may suffer from piston blowby

There are several benefits why you should consider fitting an oil catch can

An oil catch can cleans the recirculated crankcase vent gasses before re entering the air intake system of the engine
It reduces emissions and increases fuel economy
By removing this unburnt oil from the recirculated air, decreasing the contamination entering the intake system, you are increasing the life of your engine

This catch can is a very solid bit of kit and extremely well built
It is made completely by CNC machining from solid block high grade aluminium and is fitted with a universal stainless steel bracket
The 16mm inlet and outlet exceed most OEM pipe sizing providing high flow to eliminate crankcase pressure caused by more restrictive designs

The use of the CNC machined double baffle system provides oil/air separation without the use of filters making servicing as simple as unscrewing the base and cleaning with solvent
Also has small drain plug built in for easy periodic checking without needing to unscrew the base
Includes 1m length of 16mm ID High Grade Silicon hose

This would have to be one of the strongest catch cans available on the market

It is recommended the catch can is mounted at a lower position to the engine cam / rocker cover take off point and also lower than the inlet manifold so that during times when the engine is not running, any oil residue in the hoses will drain back into the catch can

There is no replaceable filter for this catch can - just unscrew the base and clean with solvent periodically

To determine service intervals, it is a good idea to perform more frequent inspections to understand how much blow-by your engine suffers
*A good starting point is to initially inspect at least every week or 100 to 200 kms, then increase the service intervals as required
*The maximum capacity you should allow the catch can to hold is between 250 and 300ml
*It is advised checks be made under different operating conditions - after extended high speed / highway driving, around town driving and long periods of idling - to get a picture of how you engine performs

    Good

The oil catch can is very well manufactured and finished. The only problem I have found is that it need screw in fittings for the inlet and out let hoses so adjustments can be made for the hose connections when mounting the can.

Do you think you get a different engine with every facelift of a car?

Manufacturers build an engine and design it to give optimum power and performance; they are governed by many factors, sale, ability, economy, emissions etc.

Here's an example, the Audi 2.0TFSi, we can see that this model is sold globally at different levels including 180hp, 200hp, 210hp, 220hp, 225hp, 240hp, 265hp, 280hp and 300hp. The reasoning behind this is to sell as many units as possible. Audi builds an engine to be powerful, then strangles the power out of the engine and sells it at a much lower spec/performance level, e.g. in the base model. Audi then adds sports trim and new wheels and all of a sudden you have a brand new model car? Wrong! It's just a modified variant with the same motor tweaked by software—and another unit for the manufacturer to sell.

An additional benefit for the manufacturer is that due to their global thirst for emissions and taxation implications (which in many cases would rule out certain engine varieties due to higher power outputs and emissions), a simple software alteration can fix these issues and be another revenue stream for the manufacturer to pursue.

So does this apply to 4WD's? It sure does, manufacturers do the same with 4WDs, and the real benefits of ECU tuning are:

More power—Greater torque—Better fuel economy

Enhanced, sharper throttle response

Smoother, more progressive delivery of power

Reliable and safe way to power up your 4WD

The process of remapping a vehicle is usually one to two-day process (most same day), as every tune is customised to each vehicle and not all ECU’s are identical in the same model vehicles.

ECU remapping is a complicated and comprehensive procedure to alter some critical parameters in the vehicle’s ECU including; injection timing, boost control, fuel delivery and torque limiters to name a few. The gains you will experience is a substantial increase in power and torque by up to 40% that develops a much smoother and more responsive driving experience for your 4WD. Another significant benefit you will experience is a fuel saving of up to 20%. All this extra power, torque and economy are achieved while still staying within the factory safety parameters and backed up by our own Roo Systems 5 year warranty.

Roo Systems has been carrying out research and development for the past five years to refine ECU tuning to suit over 30 of the most popular vehicles to suit Australian conditions before launching into market (with many more makes and models to come), so you can be assured that our tunes are at the pinnacle of quality to suit your diesel 4WD.

ECU tuning can be carried out at Roo Systems head office in Banyo Brisbane or a selected Roo Systems premium dealer Australia Wide including us at All Four x 4 Offroad whom service the Newcastle, Hunter Valley and Northern NSW.

For more information on what Roo Systems can do to your diesel 4WD:

CALL US on 02 4041 4080

or EMAIL US
